Since March 2023 I have started as the Director of Amsterdam Fashion Institute providing the strategic direction and ensure high quality standards in fashion education and research at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. My extensive experience includes working as a curator, writer, journalist and researcher. With more than thirty years of experience in art education, curation and research, I have a strong international profile as fashion curator, researcher and knowledge exchange expert in the area of innovation, sustainability, digitalization and de-westernization of fashion.

 

As a Professor in Fashion Design and Identity, I am active in research and curational practice. My research portfolio was part of the UK REF review in 2021. In 2018, I curated a successful edition of the Arnhem Fashion Biennale. Since I started at UAL in 2016 I completed six European grants on sustainability and fashion Tech that I have applied for as Principal Investigator. As chair of the educational committee of IFFTI and IAF I have an excellent network with universities (of applied arts and sciences) across the world, especially in Europe as well as strong industry links with industry partners.
